Volunteer

An all-volunteer team leads the Poway Rodeo, and we are looking for additional volunteers just like you to ensure another successful year.

Whether you want to volunteer before, during or after the Rodeo, we can use your talent. The greatest need is Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. Most shifts are about six hours, and we offer a spectrum of opportunities. See the table below for just some of the needs we have, though there are more!

Back Gate

Monitor the back gates at the rodeo grounds to ensure only authorized personnel enter here. This requires standing during your shift and redirecting people to the front gate to purchase tickets as needed.

Box Seats

Provide hospitality assistance to individuals sitting in the Box Seats. Obtain beverages from the bar and deliver to the guest. Requires walking and standing throughout the shift.

Must be 21+ and have ABC training – training will be offered in advance of the Rodeo.

Cowboy Hospitality

Serve food and assist the cowboys in the tent while they are on break. Ensure food is out, beverages stocked and supplies are available at all times for rodeo participants. Must be able to lift 20 pounds and stand for one – two hours at a time.

Dance

Assist in serving and stocking alcohol at the evening dance on Friday and Saturday night. This is a late night event beginning after the Rodeo. Requires lifting, standing and walking throughout the shift.

Drinks & Beverages

Take money from people purchasing alcohol. This is a fast-paced role and requires the ability to quickly take money and provide the guest with the drink of their choice. Requires standing and very active movement throughout the shift.

Drinks Inventory & Restocking

Monitor inventory of drinks at the various bars and restock as necessary. Requires ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds.

Grounds

Assist the week prior of the event in setting up and preparing rodeo grounds. Assistance also needed for tearing down the event on Sunday. Requires lifting, moving and carrying materials. Ideal for people available during the weekday, ideal for groups.

ID Check

Check ID and assist in providing wristbands to guests purchasing alcohol. Requires standing or sitting during the shift.

Must be 21+ and have ABC training – training will be offered in advance of the Rodeo.

Parking

Assist in directing cars to various parking lots surrounding the rodeo grounds. Requires ability to work independently and notify parking supervisor as the lot is getting full.

Sponsor Tower

Provide hospitality assistance to our sponsors and donors. Ensure drinks are stocked and food is available. Restock as necessary. Requires climbing stairs, walking, lifting and carrying.

Ticket Scanner

Guests will present paper tickets or apps on their phones to prove purchase. Ticket Scanners will use their own phone to scan tickets and allow entry. Phone data/minutes WILL NOT be affected.

Ushers

Monitor wristbands as people enter the arena for seating. Ensure people are sitting in the proper sections. Will need to ask people to ‘scoot over some’ as the bleachers fill up. People skills and patience required for this role! You will be standing your shift with some walking and potentially climbing bleacher stairs.

VIP Booth

Provide hospitality services to VIP Guests. Ensure drinks are stocked and food is available. Restock food and drinks as necessary. Requires walking, lifting and carrying.
